The series premiering in 2019 on Shudder, Creepshow is a horror Franchise which started with the films Creepshow (1982) and Creepshow 2 (1987). The first season of the series featured six episodes in total with two horror stories in each episode. In October of 2020 an animated special was released called “A Creepshow Animated Special”. Subsequently, in November of the same year, a holiday special was also announced named “A Creepshow Holiday Special” scheduled for December 18th 2020. While we await the Second season (premiering April 1st 2021) on Shudder eagerly, the Third season has already been announced on February 18th 2021.

What we could piece together from the trailer.

The trailer for Season 2 previewed 9 new tales filled with the classic monsters and psychopaths we’ve all come to love. Limited details have been revealed about the second season by Shudder. Some of the segments will include “Pesticide” written by Frank Dietz (Black Roses, 1988) about a nefarious pest exterminator, and a segment named “Model Kid” about a child who resorts to making hand-built model kits of various ghosts to escape his grim reality. “Model Kid” is written by John Esposito, who wrote Creepshow Season 1’s “Night of the Paw”. The new trailer includes glimpses of “Shapeshifters Anonymous Parts 1 and 2” written by Greg Nicotero, which is about an individual and his werewolf support group. Reports suggest that Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, 2007) will also direct one of the 9 episodes.

Filming through a global health crisis

Production for the second season of Creepshow was supposed to start in March of 2020, but it was forced to shut down during the global public health crisis caused by COVID-19 – 19. However, that was not enough to hold back Showrunner and Producer Greg Nicotero (Land of the Dead, 2005) from delivering the two holiday specials (A Creepshow Animated Special and A Creepshow Holiday Special) as mentioned above. Season 2 was able to begin filming finally in September with the team following strict safety protocols. The Cast includes Anna Camp, Adam Pally, Josh McDermitt, Keith David, Ashley Lawrence and Marilyn Manson. Unfortunately, the episode with musician Marilyn Manson, will not be released in light of recent sexual misconduct allegations against him by multiple women.
