IFC Midnight has unveiled a new poster that teases the project’s interesting blend of science fiction and horror, and Collider has your exclusive first look at the artwork as we count down the days before the debut of Demonic, the thrilling new feature from filmmaker Neill Blomkamp. Demonic will be released in theatres, on digital rental, and on VOD on August 20.
Demonic stars Carly Pope – best known for Popular and Elysium, Chris William Martin who has featured in Supergirl and The Vampire Diaries, and Michael Rogers – known for his work in Siren. The movie was written and directed by Blomkamp (Siren)

Blomkamp’s film, which was surreptitiously shot during the COVID-19 outbreak and filmed in Canada, looks to be a departure from the director’s usual documentary-style tactics. His first picture, District 9, received four Academy Award nominations, and his follow-up, Elysium, was similarly largely influenced by science fiction themes. Demonic is Blomkamp’s full foray into something with a much more explicit horror bent, and the consequences appear to live up to the moniker.
Blomkamp appears to have plenty of projects on the go beyond this impending release: he’s presently working on the sci-fi thriller Inferno, and a sequel to his critically praised picture District 9 is in the works, with the filmmaker revealing earlier this year that a script is in the works.
In this horror-thriller from director Neill Blomkamp, a young woman unleashes horrific monsters when supernatural powers at the root of a decades-old schism between mother and daughter are mercilessly revealed.
Demonic will be released in theatres, on digital rental, and on VOD on August 20 via IFC Midnight. Here’s an exclusive look at the new poster. The poster shows a distraught young woman with a cross in the foreground made with a glitch affect, a premonition we suppose of what is to come in this upcoming horror fest.
