Shudder will distribute Filip Jan Rymsza’s psychological thriller Mosquito State on its platform on August 26th which won the award for “Best Cinematography” at Venice 2020.
The action in the movie takes place in August of 2007: From his austere Central Park apartment, compulsive Wall Street data researcher Richard Boca, played by Beau Knapp, notices dangerous patterns: His computer models are acting strangely, and so are the swarms of mosquitos that have taken up residence in his apartment. This leads to an infestation that coincides with his psychological breakdown.

‘Quants’ are the intense data analysts whose mathematical prowess may make the difference between a fortune and a flop on Wall Street. Richard is so engrossed in his profession that he rarely leaves his office or apartment. When Richard goes to a corporate party, he meets two people: the mysterious, sylphlike Lena, played by Charlotte Vegaand a pesky mosquito, both of whom take root in his thoughts and profoundly affect his existence.
For all the vampiric bloodletting in horror films, he felt like the mosquito, man’s deadliest adversary, was fully unexplored, and, after reading Michael Lewis’ Flash Boys, he got captivated by those hidden away ‘quants’ who made high-frequency trading go, said Filip Jan Rymsza in a statement.
The film is described as a hypnotic journey into the frail mentality of an individual who can perceive patterns long before the rest of us,according to the press release.

AMC Networks owns and operates Shudder, an over-the-top subscription video on demand service that features horror, thriller, and supernatural fiction movies. So far, movies and shows from Shudder have been either a hit or a pass at best, making it a mixed bag but this new one which has just been added to their collection is known to be terrifying and we can’t wait to watch it!
