The Upcoming Alien Tv Series Will Not Revolve Around Ripley, Says Noah Hawley

Disney is developing the first-ever television series set within the Alien universe for FX/Hulu, which was announced at the end of last year. Noah Hawley is the showrunner. The series will be set on Earth, according to what we know so far, which isn’t much. FX hinted that we should expect a terrifying but thrilling trip set not too far in the future here on Earth.

Hawley provides some additional facts about the somewhat unknown upcoming series in an interview with Vanity Fair this week. For starters, don’t anticipate Ellen Ripley to make an appearance in this one.

According to Hawley, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, and David Fincher’s Alien flicks are fantastic monster movies, but they’re not just monster movies. They’re about humanity being imprisoned between two worlds: our primordial, parasitic past and our artificial intelligence future, both of which are out to kill us. Humans are trapped in this situation, unable to go forward or backward. All of this is something he finds quite fascinating.

“It’s not a Ripley storey,” Hawley emphasises. She’s one of the all-time great characters, and he thinks her narrative has been told properly, and he doesn’t want to meddle with it. It’s also a story that takes place on Earth. The legends about aliens are constantly entrapped where they are stuck in prisons or spaceships. He felt it would be fun to loosen it up a bit, making the stakes of “What happens if you can’t hold it?” a little higher.

Hawley says that it is also a story about inequality on certain levels. You’ll see the people that have to do the filthy work in mine as well. As a result, you’ll see what happens if the current inequity isn’t addressed. What will happen to us as a society if we can’t figure out how to help one other and divide the wealth?

All we can say is that this has piqued our interest and we sure will keep an eye out for this to hit our tv screens.
