Jaws On The Water Is Back And Texas Welcomes It With Open Arms

Jaws on the Water, the summer’s most popular outdoor film screening method, are returning just in time for the Fourth of July weekend in Austin, Texas. Following a much-missed pandemic sabbatical last summer, “JAWS on the Water” is returning to Austin, TX for several screenings beginning July 3, just when everyone believed it was safe to get back in the water.

The ultimate scary summer event that prompted CNN to ask, “Could there possibly be any scarier way to watch JAWS?” returns for a completely novel screening experience— a massive inflatable outdoor screen is placed at the water’s edge, with intrepid viewers watching the film while floating in inner tubes, with who-knows-what swimming in the murky depths below. While everyone is watching Chief Brody and his crew search for the Great White, floaters may feel a tug on their toes as scuba divers add to the excitement.

This year’s event has a few pandemic-era alterations as do almost everything around us. The most notable change is the inability of the organisers to build new collectible inner tubes for the audience to float in, therefore everyone is encouraged to bring their own tube or inflatable device. The water park at Volente Beach will open at 5:00 p.m., giving you plenty of time to enjoy the beach, water slides, food and drink, and the anticipation or dread of nightfall before the movie starts. The capacity is lower than in past years to allow for more social distancing between movie watchers. Tickets are likely to sell out quickly, so grab your fins and prepare to welcome summer back!

    Dates: Saturdays, July 3, 10 & 17

Location: Volente Beach Resort & Waterpark, 16107 Farm to Market Road 2769, #Suite D, Leander, TX 78641

Watching Jaws while floating in the water yourself is sure one hell of a experience!
