Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson feature as two lighthouse keepers who are increasingly losing their grasp on reality in The Lighthouse. It is a mesmerising and hallucinogenic tale about two lighthouse keepers on a distant and mysterious New England island in the 1890s. Fans and die hard followers of Ito, if you’re wondering, isn’t this the ideal storey for Junji Ito to adapt in his signature style? Yes, it absolutely is.

Junji Ito is a celebrated horror mangaka from Japan. Tomie, a book about an immortal girl who drives her afflicted fans insane; Uzumaki, a three-volume series about a town obsessed with spirals; and Gyo, a two-volume narrative about fish controlled by a type of sentient bacteria known as “the death stink,” are among his most noteworthy works.

Itou JunjiKyoufu Manga Collection, a collection of short stories that includes Souichi’s Journal of Delights, and Junji Ito’s Cat Diary: Yon & Mu, a self-parody about him and his wife living in a house with two cats, are two of his other works.

Largely, his dark works have gain acclaim and praise from fans and critics alike and thus turning this psychological horror into his signature art styles is sure to be a feast for the eyes!
