Lovecraftian Monsters Take Over Reality In The Upcoming Resonator Film By William Butler

After first appearing in HP Lovecraft’s story Herbert West-Reanimator in 1922, the Miskatonic University has become quite famous. It is a fictional institution located in the fictional town of Arkham in Essex. A new series titled The Resonator: Miskatonic U is currently in the works with Full Moon Feature, and apart from being inspired by Lovecraft, it will also take into account the genre director Stuart Gordon (Castle Freak, From Beyond, Dagon). The two-part feature film has recently released its trailer, and it looks like the perfect blend of dark academia, science fiction, erotic horror all thrown in together.

What to expect from the feature film

The film will be set in the Miskatonic University campus that has been home to many Lovecraftian lore before. It centres around a group of teenagers with special powers who struggle to fight off an unwanted creature that accidentally enters the real-world through a machine called The Resonator, built by one of them. The initial purpose of this machine was to explore the monster lore of multiple dimensions from a safe distance and also experience the various Lovecraftian monsters living in those dimensions. The first part of this film will be streaming on FullMoonFeatures.com and their Amazon channel on the 26th of February.

Why Lovecraftian horror is one of the most revered

Lovecraftian, a subgenre of horror, centres around fears of the cosmic terrors and the unknown. Named after famous American author Howard Phillips Lovecraft, this genre is not just limited to films, but has been adapted into books, TV shows and games. Some of his most famous horror fictions include ‘The Call of Cthulhu,’ ‘At the Mountains of Madness,’ and ‘The Shadow over Innsmouth.’ Through his writing, Lovecraft has given the world many different and terrifying monsters to ponder over. They may all be fiction-based, but the genius of HP Lovecraft’s writing style makes them real enough for those who wish to escape to his made-up world sometimes.
