Marina Sirtis Is Interested in Michael Dorn’s Star Trek Spinoff about Captain Worf

Marina Sirtis wants Michael Dorn’s Worf to play the lead character in the future Star Trek series, which will be set in the Klingon Empire.

At least one of Michael Dorn’s former co-stars from Star Trek: The Next Generation supports his proposal for a Captain Worf series. Marina Sirtis played Deanna Troi in the original TV series and its various spin-off films, alongside Dorn’s Worf. She has recently reprised the character in the Paramount+ sequel series Star Trek: Picard for a special appearance.

Personally, she believes it should be a Worf special. First and foremost, he is a hugely popular character. And it’s never been done before – having it be about the Klingon Empire rather than the Federation, with the Klingons as recurrent characters. Make it about the Klingon Empire and how they handle problems. She thinks it’d be fantastic. And, despite the fact that she doubts she’ll be in it much, she hopes she will because Michael Dorn is her best buddy. She said that wouldn’t mind not being in it because it’s a fantastic idea.

If a TV series isn’t possible, Dorn views a Worf-centric film as a viable alternative. The actor told Horror Geek Life earlier this year that he prepared a storey for a Worf film akin to Rogue One after being inspired by the Star Wars spinoff. Dorn also thought it unusual that he hasn’t gotten the call to bring Worf back to the Star Trek universe, given that Picard is bringing back so many other Star Trek: The Next Generation originals.

The second season of Star Trek: Picard will premiere in 2022, while the first season is presently available to watch on Paramount+. The return of John de Lancie as Q has been teased, while other returning Star Trek stars in the show’s second season include Brent Spiner and Jery Ryan. Guinan’s role has also been hinted to by Whoopi Goldberg.

The Big Issue published the original interview with Marina Sirtis.
