    Shelved Heman Script Details Revealed!

The writer of The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel, David S Goyer, has disclosed details of a He-Man script he penned that never saw the light of day.

As Kevin Smith’s animated Masters of The Universe: Revelation premieres on Netflix, Goyer spoke with the Hollywood Reporter about his time working on a potential Masters of The Universe script, which he said would have placed a greater emphasis on the relationship between Eternia’s hero and his faithful Battle-Cat.

It’s no secret that attempts to resurrect He-Man in a live-action film have been ongoing for so long that it feels like an eternity since the cult classic Masters of the Universe, starring Dolph Lundgren as Grayskull, was released in theatres. While the film was far from perfect, it did better than previous attempts by directors such as Jon M Chu and McG, who have both been associated to the project, as well as an infinite stream of writers such as Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, as well as novelist David S Goyer. How difficult can it be to reintroduce Prince Adam and his muscle-bound alter-ego to theatres?

Mattel created He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in the 1980s as a marketing tool for their toy line. The series was a huge hit for Filmation, and it went on to become one of the most popular animated shows of the 1980s. While the live-action film grew in popularity and many critics felt it missed the mark by shifting the action from Eternia to Earth, it established a cult following that has only increased over time.

Since then, fans have been teased with rumours of a new feature picture coming and going, including the most recent attempt, which had actor Noah Centineo attached to star as He-Man for two years before abandoning the project when it failed to proceed. Fans of He-Man have two new Netflix series to look forward to: Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and another CG animated series is in the works, which will reimagine the old show.
