Mark Your Calendars For The New ‘Nightmare Alley’ Adaptation

Guillermo del Toro, known for his iconic films like ‘Shape of Water’ (2017) and ‘Crimson Peak’ (2015), had been working on Bradley Cooper(A Star is Born, 2018) and Cate Blanchett (Carol, 2015) starrer ‘Nightmare Alley’ and has recently wrapped up productions. The film is based on the novel of the same name written by William Lindsay Gresham in 1946. The film centres around Stan, played by Cooper, with a talent for manipulating people who cross paths with Lilith, played by Cate Blanchett, who seems to be even more powerful than him.

    What we know

Toro and Kim Morgan worked on the film’s screenplay after closely following Gresham’s novel. This Searchlight Pictures film is produced by Toro himself and J Miles Dale and will be a psychological thriller worth the wait. How much of the novel’s story stays intact in the film cannot be known now, and no trailer announcements have been made. But the fans can go ahead and give the novel a read and even watch the 1947 black and white film adaptation of the same while they wait.

Two more powerful faces we will get to see

‘Nightmare Alley’ cast also includes popular faces like Rooney Mara, who has worked with Blanchett in the 2015 film ‘Carol’ and done some of the most appreciated films such as ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,’ ‘A Ghost Story,’ and ‘The Social Network.’ Toni Collette will also be joining the cast after working on some of the most celebrated horror films like ‘The Sixth Sense’ and ‘Ari Aster’s ‘Hereditary.’ Fans had only good things to say about her performance in the latter, aggrieved that she did not receive an Oscar for the same.
