Masters of the Universe: Revelation is a direct successor to the beloved original Masters of the Universe series from the 1980s. The plot follows He-Man, Teela, Orko, Cringer, and Man-At-Arms as protectors of Castle Grayskull in a battle against Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, Beast-Man, and Snake Mountain’s legions. However, after He-Man dies in the final struggle to save Eternia, Teela must uncover the riddle of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to avoid the Universe’s doom. Her journey will finally reveal Grayskull’s mysteries.

In the first episode, the show makes the bold choice to kill off its primary protagonists He-Man and Skeletor, instead focusing on Teela, a minor character from the original series. While the first series received positive reviews from critics and presently has a score of 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences have been less enthusiastic with Smith’s vision, with many He-Man fans expressing their displeasure with the character being side-lined.
Smith’s season 2 update teases multiple epic battles between He-Man and Skeletor (now known as SkeleGod), implying that the 80s icon will play a larger role in the follow-up series. Will this be enough to appease viewers who felt deceived by the show’s direction during the first season?
