Mandibles, a 2020 French-Belgian comedy film written and directed by Quentin Dupieux, made its world debut at the 77th Venice International Film Festival on September 5, 2020.

Mandibles is arguably the strangest thing we’ve seen in a long time go through our inbox. It’s a weird animal/creature comedy. When you sign up for Mandibles, you get something similar. Quentin Dupieux, a filmmaker, appears to have constructed an entirely new notion of bizarreness. On the same day as Blood Red Sky, this movie will also be released. So, once you’ve seen your fill of vampire horror, relax with some buddy/creature humour.

The plot follows two buddies on their quest to become wealthy. When Jean-Gab and Manu discover a massive fly stuck in the boot of a car, they decide to train it in the hopes of making a fortune.

It’s a straightforward notion and a rather simply plotline, but we believe there will be lots of legs, legs galore. If creature comedy is a genre you enjoy, then you should definitely take a look at the trailer and catch this movie.

Mandibles is out worldwide on July 23rd once more. Dupieux is also known for his role in Rubber, another well-known example of gonzo comedy. The film in which a sentient tyre roamed the desert, blowing people’s heads off. He also has a signature style which he keeps constant throughout his movies and we think that it’s a great moment to be alive.

Surprisingly, the film has a 95 percent approval rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, based on 21 reviews with an average rating of 7.70/10. For a concept which is rather out there, this is an exceptionally positive critical reaction.
