With Night of the Animated Dead, George A. Romero’s horror classic Night of the Living Dead gets an animated version, and we’ve got more details on the film today.
Night of the Animated Dead will be released digitally on September 21st, followed by a DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack release on October 5th.
The Long Game is presenting it in collaboration with Hemisphere Entertainment, according to the press announcement. The animated rendition of the 1968 horror classic Night of the Animated Dead features, exclusive animated moments that have never been seen before and are not present in the live-action film.

In the movie, Barbara and Johnny are visiting their father’s grave in a lonely Pennsylvania cemetery when they are unexpectedly attacked by zombies in Night of the Animated Dead. Barbara runs to an abandoned farmhouse, where she meets stranded driver Ben and four local survivors hiding in the cellar. The party must work together to stay alive as a horde of zombies approaches, while simultaneously confronting their own fears and biases.
Join director Jason Axinn and producer Michael Luisi as they impress fans with the rigorous process of respecting the famous original with their vision for an animated adaptation, including scene breakdowns and booth recordings with the cast.
Josh Duhamel plays Harry Cooper, Dulé Hill plays Ben, Katharine Isabelle plays Barbara, James Roday Rodriguez plays Tom, Katee Sackhoff plays Judy, Will Sasso plays Sheriff McClelland, Jimmi Simpson plays Johnny, and Nancy Travis plays Helen Cooper in Night of the Animated Dead.
Demente Animation Studio provided the animation services for the film. George A. Romero and John Russo wrote the first Night of the Living Dead. Night of the Animated Dead was directed by Jason Axinn and produced by Michael J. Luisi, p.g.a.
