    Creepy Spanish Horror Film, Grandmother (LA Abuela) Will Send Chills Down Your Spine

    Paco Plaza, a Spanish horror filmmaker, is back with Grandmother (La Abuela), which appears to be another in a long line of elderly-themed horror films, including The Taking of Deborah Logan, Dementia, and the more recent Relic.

    When learning that her grandmother Pilar, played by Vera Valdez, who raised her as her own after her parents died, has suffered a cerebral haemorrhage. Under these circumstances, Susana, played by Almudena Amor must leave her life as a model in Paris and come home to Madrid.

    When Susana returns home, she tries to locate a long-term caretaker for Pilar, but what should have been a simple task turns into a nightmare when Susana finds Pilar acting strangely. A sneak peek into the horrs that Plaza has in store for us can be seen in the trailer which is out now.

    Pilar, the grandmother, is played by Vera Valdez, and Susana is played by Almudena Amor, with Karina Kolokolchykova, Chacha Huang, and Michael Collis rounding out the cast. Near the end of the trailer, the shot of woman standing there naked is really unsettling. Freaky. Paco Plaza continues to deliver unnerving original horror, which is great to witness.

    Paco Plaza is a Spanish film director best known for collaborating with Jaume Balagueró on the Oscar winning films REC and REC 2. He subsequently went on to direct REC 3: Genesis on his own, followed by REC 4: Apocalypse, which was directed by Jaume Balagueró. He is also known for his work on the critically acclaimed Verónica.

    Sony Pictures is handling foreign distribution for the film and the trailer for the film is out now!The film will have its world premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain before premiering in the country in October.
