Items from Aliens, Evil Dead 2, and Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Master were all up for grabs in this week’s live auction Entertainment Memorabilia: Treasures from Film and Television from Prop Store, which began yesterday with a handful of fantastic movie props and costumes. What was the most popular item? A screen-matched mask from the movie Jason Goes To Hell!
The mask, worn by Kane Hodder in the early scenes of the film, was expected to bring in between $20,000 and $30,000 during the auction. It blew up beyond what anyone could imagine. The winning offer was $180,000, and the total sum the buyer would pay is $225,000!The entire sale price, which includes the buyer’s premium makes up this final number.

The product listing described it asa screen-matched Jason Voorhees hockey mask signed by Kane Hodder. Before being dragged to hell by Freddy Krueger, Jason’s ghost passed his distinctive mask from body to body. This mask matches the scene in which Jason is ambushed and blown up by a SWAT team.
The effects supervisor Howard Berger developed this version of the legendary Voorhees mask, which was manufactured by K.N.B. Effects Group, to appear battle-scarred, charred, water-damaged, and welded to the face of the newest user. As a result, the mask has been heavily aged by manufacture, with grime, scratches, and cracks present throughout.

It’s made of moulded vacuum-formed plastic that’s been painted white, grey, and brown, with Hodder’s signature in black marker above a red triangle insignia. The top and sides are secured with three brown leather straps. The mask is in decent general condition, despite being purposely disturbed.
It is from the collection of Tom “Brooklyn” Bellissimo, a well-known special effects artist. Bellissimo’s letter of authenticity is provided.
The auction will end today with all manners of movie goodies having being sold.
